Dear Colleagues,

"Ecologia Balkanica" (http://eb.bio.uni-plovdiv.bg) is a new international peer-reviewed scientific journal published annually by Union of Scientists in Bulgaria - Plovdiv and Plovdiv University Publishing House. The journal is dedicated to increasing the depth of research across all areas of ecology.

Call for Papers

"Ecologia Balkanica" welcomes the submission of manuscripts that meet the general criteria of significance and scientific excellence in these subject areas: ecology and conservation of microorganisms, plants, aquatic and terrestrial animals, physiological ecology, behavioral ecology, population ecology, population genetics, community ecology, inter-species interactions, ecosystem ecology, parasitology, animal evolution, ecological monitoring and bioindication, landscape and urban ecology, conservation ecology, as well as new methodical contributions in ecology, and will publish:

- Original research articles (up to 10 pages)
- Short research notes and case studies (up to 4 pages)
- Critical reviews and synopses on current ecological problems (up to 20 pages) - please consult first with the editor-in-chief before submitting this type of contribution.

We invite you to submit your manuscript(s) to ecologia_balkanica@abv.bg for publication. So far the publication in the journal is free of charge and we will do our best to keep it that way. After being received a paper will be forwarded to two or three independent anonymous reviewers (Ecologia Balkanica uses the double anonymity standard in the peer-review process). Following acceptance, a paper will normally be published in the next issue. Ecologia Balkanica is an Open Access Journal

One key request of researchers across the world is unrestricted access to research publications. Open access gives a worldwide audience larger than that of any subscription-based journal ad thus increases the visibility and impact of published work. It also enhances indexing, retrieval power and eliminates the need for permissions to reproduce and distribute content. Ecologia Balkanica is fully committed to the Open Access Initiative and will provide free access to all articles as soon as they are published. The journal also supports the online first policy and accepted articles are published immediately online on the site, followed by the print copy, when the full issue is complete at the end of the year.

The journal is included and indexed in several databases and libraries: Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), Index Coupernicus, Genamics Journal Seek, Ulrich's Web (ProQuest) and others.
