Invitation to the International Symposium ‘The animal within the shell: the importance of studying living molluscs’ (University of Copenhagen, 4 – 5 March 2014) First circular to be held at the Marine Biological Laboratory Helsingør (University of Copenhagen), 4 – 5 March 2014 This symposium is held in relation to celebrations to mark the 90th birthday on 4 March 2014 of Associate Professor Emeritus Kurt. W. Ockelmann. Kurt has worked at the Helsingør Laboratory since its beginning in 1958, encompassing a broad field of research endeavours with a focus on studies of living organisms, especially benthic molluscs and polychaetes and their larvae. The symposium focuses on the following topics: Day 1: 4 March beginning at 13:00 Session 1: Feeding diversity of bivalves and other molluscs Poster Session Symposium Dinner Day 2: 5 March beginning at 10:00 Session 2: Molluscs – combining molecules and morphology Symposium Lunch Session 3: Life History Traits and behaviour Contributions on the biology of other marine invertebrates may be included in Session 3. The schedule will be adjusted to accommodate as many contributions as possible. The symposium is partly funded by a grand from the Carlsberg Foundation. Deadline for registration and submission of presentation title(s) is 3 February 2014. Deadline for abstract submission is 17 February 2014. |
